NWA learning easier ways of survey with Akvo FLOW

Nepal WASH Alliance (NWA) partners including thematic partners Helvetas, Sector Efficiency Improvement Unit (SEIU)/Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) and Federation of Drinking Water and Sanitation Users Nepal (FEDWASUN) participated in three days training of Akvo FLOW from 21-23 June, 2013 in Lalitpur, Nepal. The program aimed to train information managers to use and manage data through mobile phones.

On the program Amitangshu Acharya, Programme Manager, Asia Hub Akvo, shared the fact that Akvo FLOW training of this scale is the first of its kind. Participants from all the organizations learned to access and understand dashboard, working module of Akvo FLOW, assign surveys to phones, conduct surveys, analyze and verify data at dashboard.

Furthermore, to simulate the survey and knowledge from training, participants were taken for real field surveys with Akvo FLOW in Gundu VDC, Bhaktapur. On the field, participants had an opportunity to discuss and conduct hands-on-practice on data collection, phone management, troubleshooting and survey submission.

Akvo FLOW is an android mobile phone and cloud based service and system that helps to collect, manages, analyze and display geographically referenced monitoring and evaluation of data.
